Northgate Brewing Fiddle Smasher Scotch Ale
Do you think the local craft beer scene is coming along okay? Who said no? You’re wrong. Northgate is just one of the many talented newcomers. They brewed this beer to celebrate their one-year anniversary. Thanks for the gift, Northgate! A real grainy wheat bread smell pops out right up front. The graininess stays with you on the tongue with a pretty intense sweetness throughout the sip. The 8% alcohol comes out but works really well to balance out the grainy sweetness. A gyro with a scotch ale? Heck yeah! The gamey lamb will pair perfectly with it.

The Princeton family has been slinging booze to the public since the day prohibition flipped over, possibly even before (sssshhhhh). William Princeton opened Princeton’s Saloon in Osseo in 1933. William’s son, Joel, joined in and they soon opened Princeton’s Liquors right next to the Saloon in 1966. Joel then added Princeton’s Liquors in Maple Grove in 1979. With Joel still at the helm, both his son-in-law Nick and son Bill continue the Princeton tradition of giving the NW suburbs the great service and selection Princeton’s has always been known for and which make Princeton’s Liquors one of the premier stores in the area.
