Wander North Distillery, maker of Outpost Vodka, is debuting a series of whiskies made from the beers of Northeast Minneapolis.
Their Uncharted whiskies are made in collaboration with several breweries, and distilled from the distinctive malt bills of some iconic Northeast beers.
“After the release of the Applejack we did in collaboration with Sociable Cider Werks, we created the Uncharted series to further our commitment to creating locally-sourced spirits in collaboration with our neighbors,” says Wander North’s Brian Winter, via press release. “The Uncharted is technically a whiskey distilled from a malt mash, instead of a malt whiskey. That is because is spends one year versus two in used instead of new barrels. What is great is how much of the individuality of the beer comes through in the final product.”
The first Uncharted release is made from NorthGate Brewing‘s Get Together IPA. Future entries in the series will feature collaborations with 612Brew, Inbound BrewCo, 56 Brewing, and Modist Brewing.
Next Friday, July 8, head to Grumpy’s NE for the official release party: get a firkin pour of Get Together, plus a shot of Uncharted, on special for $9 for the pair.
Each Uncharted whiskey will enjoy a limited a release of between 130 and 500 bottles, available in liquor stores across the Metro.
