USA TODAY’s 10Best editors, in tandem with a panel of food and travel experts, have searched (and tasted) the country high and low for the best new restaurants that have opened within the past year-and-a-half. And one Minneapolis eatery is on the leaderboard: Upton 43.
Opened in December 2015, chef Erick Harcey is at the culinary helm of Upton 43 and draws inspiration for his menu from his Swedish heritage. While the menu is filled with nostalgic Nordic comfort food, from the Swedish pancakes with lingonberry, a hash called pyttipanna, and of course, Swedish meatballs, Harcey ups the ante with modern, elegant, and French-infused techniques.
From now until Monday, January 2, readers can vote for who should be deemed as America’s Best New Restaurant. The winners will be announced Friday, January 6.
In addition, Harcey was recently named chef of the year by Eater Minneapolis and Upton 43 was the readers’ choice for restaurant of the year.
