The restaurant will be located at 739 Lake Street in Wayzata, the former longtime home of The Blue Point, and is scheduled to open in the spring of 2017. Upon finding the place, Kaysen said, “Once I walked through these doors, I felt an immediate connection to the charm and the natural character of the building, the town, and the smell of the lake nearby.”
What’s in a name, you may ask? The name “Bellecour” comes from La Place Bellecour, in the center of Lyon in France. The French-inspired bistro pays an homage to his close friends and mentors, including chefs Daniel Boulud and Paul Bocuse. Boulud was born in Lyon, whereas Bocuse is based there.
As for the menu, it will feature of mixture of classic French dishes and Midwestern flavors. The press release also noted that a bakery by Spoon & Stable pastry chef Diane Yang will also be included.
