Chanhassen Dinner Theatres was built in 1968 and designed to look cozy and welcoming, like someone’s living room or Up North-themed den.
While there’s nothing wrong with that vibe, after 50 years it’s time for a little sprucing up.
The Chan has hired Smart Associates to do just that, reports the Star Tribune. Lobbies, box offices, bars, and lounges will be updated in the ongoing project. Floor surfaces, wall and ceiling finishes, and lighting are the main focus. No structural changes will take place.
The theater last had significant renovations in 1988. It is not anticipated the work will disrupt the theater’s performance schedules in the main room, the Fireside stage, or the Playhouse.
