The Palace Theater will re-open in downtown St. Paul on Friday night to host local hip hop artist Atmosphere for its first official concert. Just over 100 years will have passed since the venue originally opened as a 3,000 seat vaudeville house, which has sat vacant since 1984 when it was last used as a movie theater.
First Avenue, and JAM Productions joined forces to renovate the storied space into a 3,000-person music venue. The theater was outfitted with new bathrooms, bar counters, and balcony seats. The floor will be standing room-only, with tiered viewing.

The music calendar for the Palace Theatre offers an impressive lineup of nationally touring artists like Regina Spektor, Phantogram, Ryan Adams, The xx, and Pixies, as well as local artists such as The Jayhawks and The Cactus Blossoms.
