Jack White to set “World’s Fastest Record” record on Record Store Day

Jack White Record

On the heels of announcing the June 10 release date for his next album LazarettoJack White and Third Man Records announced their intention to set a Guinness World Record by recording the fastest studio-to-store record in history—and if that’s not enough “records” for you, the live single will be released on Record Store Day, April 19, 2014.

First thing in the morning on April 19th, White will hit the stage at Third Man Records’ Blue Room and record a live version “direct-to-acetate” of the title track to the forthcoming LP Lazaretto. After recording, the masters will be sent to United Records Pressing, who will immediately start pressing the 45s and package them in a sleeve featuring photos from the live show. The finished records will be sent straight back to Third Man Records to be sold to awaiting fans. All of this is set to take just mere hours, and United Records Pressing will press as many records as there are fans willing to purchase at Third Man Records on Record Store Day.

While fans are waiting for their records, Third Man Records will host band Whirlwind Heat who will play their first live show since 2006 (and likely their last ever), as their TMR classic Do Rabbits Wonder? LP is reissued on a variety of colored vinyl for Record Store Day.

Everyone is welcome to line up to purchase The World’s Fastest Record, but Jack White’s and Whirlwind Heat’s live performances are only open to Ultra Ticket holders. Tickets are extremely limited and can be purchased through Third Man Records Vault to Premium Members.

Ultra Tickets for Record Store Day will be available via The Vault Pre-Sale ticket store at 3pm CT today, Thursday, April 3rd.
