Collab Chronicle: Follow the breweries competing in the 2016 In Cahoots!

Summit Brewing Company & Bang Brewing

Sandy Boss Febbo is happy to represent the east siders of the competition by once again joining up with Summit Brewing brewer Mike Lundell.

“It was like getting the band back together,” says Boss Febbo, an owner and brewer at Bang Brewing along with her husband.

When asked about how this year’s beer, MIKE, was brainstormed, Boss Febbo lets out a laugh.

“It was a five-minute conversation at Summit,” she begins. “We went back and forth on ingredients.”

Maris Otter malt was initially chosen for the Kölsch-style beer, but then wheat was added and the beer became an atypical hybrid of the style—using a hop that neither brewery has ever used from an organic farmer in the Hallertau region.

“It’s a nice representation of the beers Jay [Boss Febbo] and I like to brew, what Mikey is interested in doing,” Boss Febbo says. “It’s truly crafted out of wanting to do something fun and different.”
