M is for… Minnesota
Be proud, Minnesota. You’re making a splash on the national scene. Almost every time we told someone where we from, the reaction about the same: some iteration of “you guys are doing good things up there.” Well, we would have to agree. Though it was palpable how much more mature the ‘scene’ is in Colorado, what also seemed obvious is how much room we have to grow in our own right. Six Minnesota breweries (Summit, Surly, Schell’s, Minneapolis Town Hall, Fitger’s and Lucid) were officially represented at the festival. In addition, The Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild was in attendance and poured some local favorites from 612Brew, Big Wood, and Fulton.
Four Minnesota brews took home 2013 GABF medals in various categories:
- Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery’s Twisted Trace (SILVER, Wood- and Barrel-Aged Strong Beer)
- Summit Brewing Company’s True Brit IPA (SILVER, Extra Special Bitter)
- Surly Brewing Company’s Pentagram (BRONZE, Wood- and Barrel-Aged Sour Beer)
- August Schell Brewing Company’s Schell’s Oktoberfest (BRONZE, American-Style Amber Lager)
