When it comes to Linda Aarons comedy, you can’t judge a book by it’s cover.
Aarons is one of the hardest working and most clever comedians in the Twin Cities. She’s been performing for more than a decade, and was runner-up in Acme’s Funniest Person Contest back in 2007.
“I had been taking improv classes at Stevie Ray’s Improv Company, and they also taught stand-up classes, so I took the stand-up class,” she remembers. “Doing well in that Acme contest spurred me on to perform much more often and made me think, maybe I can do this.”
Do this she has, as she was hired on as a regular emcee at Acme shortly after the contest, and has been a regular at other clubs including Royal Comedy in Hopkins, Joke Joint, and House of Comedy locally, while also cutting her teeth in contests and showcases in other parts of the country.
“My proudest moment in comedy so far was being hired as an emcee at Acme Comedy Company,” she says. “It’s an incredible opportunity to perform in front of great audiences and with such great comedians.”
Her quiet tone and subtle demeanor make her incredibly disarming, but Aarons’ comedy packs a surprising amount of punch. She can blend nicely with traditionally clean comedians who have been veterans of the club scene for decades, or hang with the younger, more alternative up-and-coming performers at any open mic.
While she’s always sharpening her skills, 2017 is a year where you’ll continue to see Linda on bigger stages, with bigger crowds, and likely getting even bigger recognition.
Where can you see her next?
